Mark Epstein is keeping the mystery alive. Nearly six years after his brother Jeffrey died inside Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center, Mark says fresh autopsy data will finally prove the convicted sex trafficker was murdered.
The Murder Claim
Jeffrey Epstein, 66, was found hanging in his cell on Aug. 10, 2019, while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. New York City’s medical examiner ruled the death a suicide by hanging, a finding later backed by a 2023 Department of Justice review that found “no credible evidence of foul play.”
Mark, who identified the body, never accepted that conclusion. He hired former NYC chief medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden, who after reviewing the evidence said the injuries “point to homicide rather than suicide.”

- Mark says the neck injuries “didn’t correspond” to a hanging posture
- He believes only three prison deaths exist: suicide, natural causes, or murder
- “Jeff was murdered. I want to know who killed him and on whose behalf?”
Fresh Evidence Promised
Speaking to News Nation Now on Jan. 9, Mark doubled down and teased new disclosures.
> “More autopsy facts will be coming out in February that prove it.”
He labeled earlier federal probes a “cover-up” and questioned, “Who are they trying to protect?”
Mark’s public crusade has escalated since mid-2024:
| Claim | Date |
|---|---|
| Names of conservative politicians being scrubbed from Epstein files | Nov. 18 |
| Trump delayed release to shield allies | Nov. 20 |
| Brother had 2016 Trump dirt “that could cancel the election” | Nov. 20 interview |
Distrusting Maxwell
Jeffrey’s former partner Ghislaine Maxwell, in an August 2025 statement, said she didn’t “see” a murder plot, though she conceded an “internal situation” could be possible.
Mark brushed off her remarks: “I wouldn’t trust anything” she says, noting Maxwell “never saw the body or talked to Jeff before he died.”
Key Takeaways
- Mark Epstein promises February data dump contradicting the suicide ruling
- He accuses multiple investigations of orchestrating a cover-up
- Continues to allege political motives behind delayed or redacted document releases
- Dr. Michael Baden’s homicide view remains central to his campaign
Whether the forthcoming autopsy details will shift public opinion-or official findings-remains an open question, but Mark shows no sign of letting the issue fade.
