Nikki Glaser didn’t hold back when she returned to host the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards on January 11, 2026, aiming her sharpest barbs at the very network airing the ceremony.
Glaser’s CBS News Roast
Standing on stage at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the 41-year-old comedian opened with praise for the star-studded room before pivoting to pointed commentary about recent government and media edits.
“I cannot believe the amount of star power we have in this room tonight. It’s insane,” she told the crowd. “There are so many A-listers, and by A-list I do mean a list that has been heavily redacted. And the Golden Globe for Best Editing goes to the Justice Department. Yes. Congratulations.”
She then turned to CBS News.
“And the award for most editing goes to CBS News,” Glaser added, drawing significant laughter and applause. “Yes, CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS news. We needed another.”
Timing of the Jab
The quip lands less than a week after anchor Tony Dokoupil began fronting the CBS Evening News, and weeks after the outlet scrapped a planned 60 Minutes segment on Venezuelan deportees sent to an El Salvador prison under the Trump administration.
Dokoupil becomes the sixth anchor of the broadcast in the past decade, a revolving door that follows Skydance’s $8 billion takeover of Paramount, CBS’s parent company. The merger also comes after CBS News reached a legal settlement with President Donald Trump.
In October, Bari Weiss-founder of opinion site The Free Press and with no prior experience running a newsroom the size of CBS-was named editor in chief of CBS News.
More Monologue Highlights
Glaser also skewered celebrity attendees, including Leonardo DiCaprio.
She joked that the actor is nominated for “one man bun after another” instead of his film One Battle After Another, and quipped that he has “won three Golden Globes, an Oscar and the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.” DiCaprio, 51, is dating 27-year-old Italian model Vittoria Ceretti.
Return Engagement
The comic first hosted the Globes in 2025 and immediately accepted the invitation to emcee again.
“There’s lots to joke about this year – and the star power in the room is going to be bigger than ever,” she told News Of Losangeles on January 2, previewing the broadcast. “I mean, it’s bigger than last year. I kind of have to keep wrapping my head around the kind of people that are going to be present in this room.”
The 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
