Alan Jackson, the former attorney for Nick Reiner, revealed he “dropped everything” to join the defense after learning of the murders of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner on December 14.
During a January 12 episode of the Hot Mics with Billy Bush podcast, Jackson recalled receiving the call in New York in the “very, very early morning hours of [December] 15th.”
- Jackson appeared at Nick’s initial court appearance on January 7.
- He withdrew before arraignment; Nick now has public defender Kimberly Greene.
- Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found stabbed to death in their Los Angeles home.
Jackson refused to disclose why he left the case, citing “confidential communication” and denying money disputes.

“You can’t say that something happened with the retainer because I’ve never said that,” he insisted.
He praised the public defender’s office and maintained Nick is “not guilty” under California law.
Jackson also appeared on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera on January 13, repeating that his team will “always be committed to [Nick’s] best interests.”
