The mansion that served as the exterior of the Banks family home on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has hit the market after nearly five decades off the market.
A Rare Chance to Own TV History
According to a source who spoke to News Of Losangeles, the property-famous for its symmetrical façade and four white columns-has not changed hands since 1978. Built in 1937, the Georgian Colonial sits on a leafy Brentwood lot and offers more than 6,000 square feet of living space spread across five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

While the show placed the family in Bel-Air, producers chose this Brentwood address for exterior shots. Interior scenes were filmed on a soundstage, leaving the real home’s layout largely unseen by viewers.
From Screen to Airbnb to For-Sale Sign
In 2020, the estate became a temporary Airbnb rental to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary. Will Smith, then 57, acted as virtual host, greeting Los Angeles County residents who booked the socially distanced stay.
> “I’m handing you the keys so you’ll have my wing of the mansion all to yourself-but my sneaker collection is off limits, aight?” Smith joked in the listing.
Guests tried on Jordans, shot hoops in the bedroom, lounged poolside, and spun vinyl on turntables. That same year, Smith reunited with castmates Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Tatyana M. Ali (Ashley), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Vivian), and Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey) for an on-camera tour.
> “To walk through the door and walk in, it has beautiful nostalgic value,” Smith said.
