The Power universe delivered a rare happy ending for one of its most violent characters. Power Book IV: Force concluded its third and final season on Jan. 16, with Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) not only surviving but cementing his position as Chicago’s drug kingpin.

The Starz spinoff, which premiered in 2022, followed Tommy’s attempt to establish a new criminal empire after leaving New York. The finale wrapped up his violent campaign for dominance, which included forming alliances with Diamond Sampson (Isaac Keys) and navigating a complex relationship with girlfriend Mireya Garcia (Carmela Zumbado).

The Final Showdown

The season’s climax centered on Tommy’s war with rival Jenard (Kris D. Lofton). After Diamond’s death, tensions escalated between the two factions. Tommy and Miguel (Manuel Eduardo Ramirez) received intelligence about their rivals’ location and planned an ambush, enlisting help from Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), son of Tommy’s deceased friend Ghost.

The attack succeeded despite Miguel suffering a leg wound. Jenard’s crew abandoned him, acknowledging Tommy as Chicago’s new crime boss. However, Jenard refused to accept defeat, teaming up with Vic Flynn (Shane Harper) to plot future revenge.

Tommy’s Survival and Ghost Mystery

Despite the show’s history of killing major characters, Tommy defied expectations by surviving the finale. This outcome contrasted with Sikora’s early warnings to fans. “Tommy could die at any moment,” he told Entertainment Weekly in February 2022.

One scene sparked speculation about another character’s fate. Tommy received a mysterious phone call before Tariq’s arrival, leading to questions about whether Ghost might still be alive. Sikora addressed this theory in a January 2026 interview with News Of Losangeles.

“My only other thing was, ‘Hey, is there any way that Ghost is still alive?’ ” Sikora said. “I know that Courtney said no, but we didn’t see a funeral, really, and we didn’t see the body. So I was wondering, I was like, ‘Could that be the call?’ “

Mireya’s Departure

The finale left Tommy’s romantic future uncertain. Before his final confrontation, he discovered a note from Mireya explaining she left town to stay with family, allowing him to handle business without worrying about her safety.

While Tommy and Miguel assumed she went to Mexico, her exact destination remained unconfirmed. Showrunner Gary Lennon explained this creative choice to TV Line in January 2026.

“Him telling her to get out of town or him making her get out of town takes away all of her agency,” Lennon said. “So I came up with the idea of letting her do that. And the way Joseph comes into the apartment and finds the letter and reads it, it is full of emotion and, and he knew he’s with the right woman, cause that’s the girl I wanna be with, right?”

Return to New York?

The final moments suggested Tommy’s story might continue in New York. After Tariq declared him “King of Chicago,” he revealed his true motivation for visiting – convincing Tommy to return to New York with him.

Tariq discussed the appeal of watching his child grow up in their hometown before proposing they “start some new s—.” Tommy’s response: “Hell yeah, I’m ready.”

Sikora remained optimistic about Tommy’s future when speaking with News Of Losangeles in January 2026.

“Whether it’s filmed or not, I think that it’s the next chapter,” he said. “But if [not], I think that is, at least in our minds, that’s the next chapter … Like I always say, as long as Gary Lennon is writing Tommy, I’d love to keep playing him.”

Future Power Projects

The Power universe continues expanding beyond Force. In March 2024, Starz greenlit Power: Origins, a prequel series exploring Tommy and Ghost’s early years. Charlie Mann and Spence Moore II will play younger versions of the characters.

“I’m glad they cast somebody better looking than me for me,” Sikora joked to News Of Losangeles in 2026. “But Tommy’s a tough character, Tommy’s an interestingly calibrated character, so I can’t wait to see what Charlie does with him.”

Additional projects remain in development. Deadline reported in June 2025 that writers were assembling for Power: Legacy. While Lennon declined to confirm details in January 2026, he shared his “fantasy” project with Deadline.

“Something for the big screen, like a proper film,” Sikora added, noting it would follow Legacy. “We’re in the process of writing it. Whether it gets made, only time will tell.”
