Claudia Jessie has spent six years playing Eloise Bridgerton, but the 36-year-old actress insists her off-screen wardrobe is a world away from the Netflix hit’s elaborate costumes.
Speaking with Jonathan P. Miller at the Bridgerton season 4 premiere in Paris, Jessie admitted she races into comfortable clothes once cameras stop rolling.
Corsets Off, Tracksuits On
“I feel like in our real life, have we started wearing corsets or been inspired by it in our real life? I’ve got to be honest. I want to get straight into a tracksuit as soon as I’m done [filming],” she joked.
She did float one playful exception: “Although, I’ll tell you what, I wouldn’t mind turning up in a pub just dressed like full Regency [era-inspired]. See what happens. Just go loose.”
Since the series debuted in 2020, Bridgerton‘s fashion has become as iconic as its orchestral pop covers and steamy romance. Season 1 costume designer Ellen Mirojnick told Vogue her team:
- Studied Regency-era drawings and paintings
- Aimed for “aspirational” rather than historically accurate silhouettes
- Produced roughly 7,500 pieces-hats, shawls, overcoats-that composed about 5,000 on-camera costumes
Comfort Versus Convenience
Despite the lavish appearance, Jessie told News Of Los Angeles the garments themselves are “very comfortable.”
“The action is going on underneath,” she explained. “What I do have is Spanx tights and then a mic pack on my thigh, so actually, my biggest struggle is going for a wee.”
Part one of season 4 launches January 29, 2026, introducing Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha) as the new diamond and sparking a romance with Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson).
Future Seasons Confirmed
Showrunner Jess Brownell attended the January 14 Paris premiere wearing an embroidered pocket square that teased what’s ahead. The “E” and “F” stitched on the fabric confirmed:
- Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie)
- Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd)
will each headline upcoming seasons. Brownell told Deadline: “In what order? I can’t say,” but promised the sisters will have expanded storylines in seasons 5 and 6.
Key Takeaways
- Bridgerton‘s costumes may look regal, but actors peel them off for modern comfort
- The wardrobe department crafted thousands of pieces to achieve the show’s signature look
