Deputies responded to a medical emergency at a Geismar gas station around 9 p.m. on New Year’s Day. They found Marley Perilloux unresponsive with his father, Marlon Perilloux, at the scene. CPR was initiated immediately and continued while the child was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Unit launched an investigation after observing apparent injuries and signs of neglect on the child. A search warrant executed at the family’s home revealed conditions described as “barely livable.”
Detectives determined both parents failed to provide basic care, including:
- Proper hygiene
- Regular feeding
- Necessary medical attention
At the time of his death, Marley weighed approximately 19 pounds.
In addition to negligent homicide and second-degree cruelty to juveniles, both parents were charged with:
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Illegal carrying of weapons
They were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail without bond. It was not immediately clear if either had entered a plea or retained an attorney.
