A$AP Rocky is pulling back the curtain on fatherhood. The 37-year-old rapper gave a rare interview about raising three kids with Rihanna, revealing how different each child already is at their young ages.
The couple shares sons RZA, 3½, and Riot, 2, plus daughter Rocki, born in September 2025. Speaking on The New York Times Popcast released January 16, the “Helicopter” rapper didn’t hold back about his children’s budding personalities.
RZA vs. Riot: The “Monk” and the “Rockstar”
Rocky painted two very different pictures of his sons, who are just 14 months apart.
“You know, my first son, RZA, he’s just really like, he’s [the] opposite of his brother, the 3-year-old and the 2-year-old. They’re about 14 months apart. So, they’re really close, but he’s really antisocial,” he told hosts Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli.
The contrast couldn’t be sharper with Riot.
“And my second son is just a socialite at this point, you know? He wants to steal the room when he comes, and he walks in it, and he’s addicted to cotton candy, and… he likes… typical little kid stuff,” Rocky said.
The food differences extend beyond personality. While Riot loves cotton candy, Rocky revealed that “my first son never ate candy a day in his life and hates it.”
The hosts joked that the couple has a “monk” toddler and a “rockstar” toddler.
Baby Rocki Steals the Show
Rocky’s face lit up when discussing his only daughter, who turned 4 months old on January 13.
“Baby Rocki man, she’s something, you know she’s 4 months. She’s 4 months on the 13th,” he said. “And she looks exactly identical to me. My twin, bro.”

The infant has already made her mark on the household. Before her arrival, Rocky thought life with his “two boys” was “lit,” joking they were their own “He-Man Women Haters Club.”
“Like, here we go. I’m with the little rascals, man,” he said, referencing the 1994 film. “And then baby Rocki came in, and just kind of took over the whole household.”
Rocky described Rocki as “very talkative at 4 months” and said she “likes to giggle and smile.”
The “Cool-Ass” Parenting Philosophy
When asked about discipline styles, Rocky was definitive about their approach.
“None of us have to be. We are cool-ass parents,” he said, noting he still feels “relatively young.”
This laid-back attitude extends to how they handle their children’s choices. Despite being a vegetarian himself, Rocky doesn’t impose his diet on his kids.
“They eat whatever they want. I got to let them be themselves,” he explained. “They eat whatever they want. I got to let them be themselves.”
He emphasized letting his children forge their own paths rather than forcing specific lifestyles on them.
Future Father-Son Bonding
Rocky shared what he’s looking forward to as his boys grow older.
“I always said to myself, like, ‘Yo, if I ever become a dad, like, I’mma be the coolest dad.’ And I think that’s – being a dad made me cooler,” he said. “My swag is up, bro.”
He specifically mentioned wanting to be the dad who shows his sons “how to throw footballs and slapbox each other without hurting each other.”
The rapper seems to be living out his dream of fatherhood exactly as he envisioned it.
Musical Milestone
The interview coincided with a big day for Rocky. His fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, dropped on January 16, the same day the podcast episode was released.
Rocky has been open about how fatherhood has changed him, previously telling News Of Los Angeles that becoming a dad has made him feel cooler and more confident in his role as a parent.
The rapper and Rihanna, both 37, have managed to keep their family life relatively private while occasionally sharing glimpses into their parenting journey. This latest interview offers fans their most detailed look yet at how the celebrity couple navigates raising three young children while maintaining their high-profile careers.
Rocky’s candid discussion about each child’s unique personality traits shows how attentively he and Rihanna are approaching parenthood, celebrating their children’s individual differences rather than trying to mold them into any particular image.
