- Why it matters: The private exchanges surface in court filings as Lively sues Baldoni for sexual harassment and retaliation
Private text messages show Blake Lively enlisted Taylor Swift to review her script revisions for It Ends With Us while simultaneously ridiculing the film’s director, Justin Baldoni, whom she is now suing for sexual harassment and retaliation, according to court documents obtained by Jonathan P. Miller on January 20.
The Texts at the Center of the Case
In one exchange, Lively asked Swift to look over the rewritten screenplay for the Colleen Hoover adaptation and referred to Baldoni-who denies all accusations-as her “doofus director” and a “clown,” the filing states. A transcript of Lively’s July deposition, also obtained by Jonathan P. Miller, reveals she sent the script because Swift was en route to Lively’s apartment for a meeting with Baldoni.
Swift’s response was immediate and enthusiastic: “I’ll do anything for you !!”
Afterward, Lively praised Swift in a follow-up text, noting she had relayed every detail to husband Ryan Reynolds.
> “You were so epically heroic today,” Lively wrote, per the documents. “I recapped every moment to Ryan. I kept remembering stuff-You making s–t up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll. This clown falling for all of it. But also resisting it.”
She concluded, “You are the worlds absolute greatest friend ever.”
No Pressure, Just a Favor
During the July deposition, Lively confirmed she told Swift “you don’t have to read” the script. The January 20 filing argues that phrasing was meant to ensure her friend didn’t feel obligated.
> “I sent Taylor the script on her way to my apartment because Justin was still there, and I asked her to read them,” Lively testified. “I told her she didn’t have to, I didn’t want her to feel pressured to do that, but I hoped that she would.”
News Of Los Angeles reached out to representatives for both Lively and Baldoni but has not received responses. A rep for Swift declined to comment.
Swift’s Name Surfaces Again
The newly revealed texts are not the first time Swift’s name has appeared in the legal battle. In a now-dismissed countersuit, Baldoni accused Lively of leveraging her friendship with the Grammy winner to gain creative control over It Ends With Us.
That filing included messages in which Lively likened herself to Emilia Clarke’s Game of Thrones character, Khaleesi, and dubbed Swift and Reynolds her “dragons.”
> “For better or worse, but usually for better,” Lively wrote, per the 2025 filing. “Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. you will too, I can promise you.”

Swift’s team has firmly denied any deeper involvement. In a May statement to Jonathan P. Miller, her spokesperson said:
> “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie. She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film.”
The only contribution confirmed is Swift’s song “My Tears Ricochet” on the soundtrack.
Key Takeaways
- Lively’s private texts reveal she sought Swift’s input while mocking Baldoni.
- Swift’s role was limited to a friendly script review and soundtrack contribution.
- The court filings continue to shape public understanding of the harassment lawsuit.
