A quiet first look turned magical when a butterfly crashed Hilda Trinh and Nick Nguyen’s wedding at Morning Glory Farm on Sept. 28 in Unionville, North Carolina.
Wedding photographers Jo and Glo tell News Of Los Angeles the Painted Lady butterfly appeared unannounced, landing first on the groom’s back. The couple were finishing their private first look inside the estate when the insect joined them. “As photographers, this was one of the most magical and almost surreal moments we have ever experienced on a wedding day,” Jo and Glo say.
Spiritual Sign
Trinh and Nguyen, who describe themselves as deeply spiritual, did not dismiss the visit as coincidence. “To them, it felt like a gentle sign from the universe, a blessing and a reminder of someone they loved who couldn’t be there in person that day,” the photographers explain.
Video captured by Wedding Content by Fabiely and shared on Instagram in December shows Trinh’s reaction. She gasped and whispered, “That’s such a good sign,” before extending her hand. The butterfly calmly transferred from Nguyen’s back to her finger.
Infinity Moment
The groom, already emotional, began to cry. “Without any direction or prompting, he reached for her hand,” Jo and Glo recall. “As their hands met, they naturally formed the shape of an infinity symbol, with the butterfly resting right on top.”
The insect remained for roughly five minutes before flying away. “Almost like it was part of the celebration, quietly sharing its love and blessing,” the photographers note. “It added an undeniable sense of magic to the first look and completely shifted the energy of the room.”

After the encounter, Trinh and Nguyen headed outside to exchange vows planned by Heatherly Event Design.
