Colleen Hoover has completed radiation therapy and is now cancer-free, the author announced in a Jan. 17 Facebook post.
The 46-year-old writer behind It Ends with Us clarified that misleading headlines had overstated her condition. “Just clarification because of some misleading clickbait making it sound like I’m on my deathbed or something, but I do not have cancer anymore,” she wrote.

Hoover revealed her diagnosis timeline:
- Diagnosed sometime in 2024
- Underwent successful surgery
- Completed radiation on Jan. 16, 2025
“I am done and good and all is well and has been well. My doctors doctored. Hell yeah,” she added.
Diagnosis and Treatment Journey
Hoover first shared news of her cancer in December 2025 via social media. According to the repost by Katyinkc, she did not disclose the specific type of cancer but confirmed it had been surgically removed.
She emphasized that her treatment plan involved radiation only-no chemotherapy.
The author delayed addressing her health while filming Reminders of Him, the upcoming movie adaptation of her novel. “I continued to put off until the movie was finished,” she explained.
The disease forced her to miss several key events:
- Regretting You premiere
- Additional career milestones
- Personal moments she chose not to disclose
Public Updates and Humor
On Jan. 12, Hoover posted an Instagram Story photo wearing a hospital gown, captioning it: “Second to last day of radiation. I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @Texas.Oncology, but they’ve been great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them.”
Earlier, on Jan. 9, she attributed her illness to “likely environmental/lifestyle” factors, including:
- Lack of exercise
- Poor diet
- Stress
A geneticist ruled out family genetics, HPV, and excessive hormones as causes.
Despite her gratitude, Hoover kept her signature humor: “I’m happy and grateful to be alive but I hate vegetables. I hate when I have to get off the couch. I hate sweating. I hate when science is right.”
She joked about lifestyle changes: “If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job. If you see me at a restaurant eating grilled chicken and drinking water, I’m probably real mad about it.”
Upcoming Projects
Reminders of Him is scheduled for theatrical release on March 13, 2025. Her latest novel, Woman Down, launched on Jan. 13, 2025, one day after her penultimate radiation session.
The author used her platform to thank Texas Oncology and reassure readers, closing her update with a candid nod to her medical team and a hopeful outlook on recovery.
