The Charlie’s Angels star began her video by showing off her large pasta portion, hissing like a cat before adding noodles to boiling water. “Yes, that’s my portion, it’s a lot!” she declared. “I don’t care what you think.”
Barrymore then revealed her cooking inspiration came from refrigerator leftovers. She gathered vegetables including a green bell pepper, carrots, celery and broccoli while explaining her approach.
“Okay, I just fished out whatever leftover vegetables I had in my fridge, and I’m going to show and demonstrate, as a terrible home cook, how I make a pasta primavera with leftover vegetables,” she said while holding the produce.
The cooking process involved adding oil, salt, chopped vegetables, unsalted butter, black pepper and vegetable broth to a pan. Barrymore provided timing advice for cooking pasta properly.

“Remember, your pasta is going to cook for another two minutes, so really grab it when it’s al dente,” she instructed while transferring cooked noodles to the vegetable pan and adding pasta water.
The filming process proved challenging for Barrymore throughout the video. She struggled with camera positioning and visibility while grating cheese.
“How in the h— does anyone make these goddamn videos?” Barrymore exclaimed in frustration.
“You can’t even see what I’m doing!” she realized while adjusting her phone and rolling her eyes.
Final touches included fresh lemon juice, basil and red pepper flakes. Barrymore made a silly sound after adding the spice before taking a bite.
“S— that’s good,” she admitted after tasting the dish.
The 50 First Dates actress emphasized that flavor matters more than appearance when cooking at home.
“All that matters is that you get there, to a really good tasting dish. Screw it if it ain’t pretty,” she concluded.
Two days earlier on Friday, Jan. 16, Barrymore posted another food-related Instagram video. In that clip, she smiled over a rice cooker while eating over a kitchen counter.
The video featured audio from Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls saying, “I spent about 80% of my time talking about Regina, and the other 20% of the time I was praying for someone else to bring her up so I could talk about her more.”
Barrymore added text overlay to her video reading: “I spend about 80% of the time talking about what I’m going to eat for dinner. And the other 20% of time I was praying someone will bring dinner up.”
The cookbook author and mother of two regularly shares glimpses of her personal life on social media, including her cooking adventures and kitchen mishaps.
