Jules Latimer and Kat Cunning have taken their relationship to the next level with not one, not two, but three marriage proposals. The couple announced their engagement through a joint Instagram post that showcased their romantic journey.
The Triple Proposal Story
The Fire Country star and her partner, known for roles in Netflix’s Trinkets and HBO’s The Deuce, shared their unique engagement story on Monday, Jan. 5. Their announcement revealed that they had actually gotten engaged three times to each other.
“This is the moment we got engaged,” Cunning wrote in their joint post. “For the second time on this day and the third time to each other.”
The Instagram post featured multiple photos from their beachside proposal, complete with red and green fireworks illuminating the sky behind them. One image showed Latimer down on one knee in the sand, while others captured the couple embracing by the water.
The First Proposal
Cunning revealed details about their initial engagement, which happened over Labor Day weekend. This proposal occurred in a hot tub under the Joshua Tree stars, with their dog Dijon and cat Juli-cat present at the Airbnb.

“You said yes to me over Labor Day weekend when I gave you a ring that encapsulates the sharp angles of your mind and the rabbit-hole arcs of your body,” Cunning shared in the post.
The couple’s first date in New York seemed to set the tone for their relationship. They met for lunch in Brooklyn and shared a three-course meal that left literal and metaphorical impressions.
“It left seeds in our teeth,” Cunning recalled. “And we left wishing for a flosser, as much as we wished we had kissed.”
The Second Proposal
The second proposal took place on Dec. 23 while the couple was sailing on a yacht. Cunning described the boat as “small enough to feel like an exoskeleton” in their Instagram caption.
The romantic setting included humpback whales diving nearby and a “dirty dancing song” playing over the speakers. Latimer popped the question over the open ocean under a setting sun.
“I said yes to the waves and the Tequila the humpback whales diving, to the dirty dancing song you played over the speakers and the question you finally popped over open ocean under setting sun which looked like your finger paintings of my body,” Cunning wrote.
A video clip included in their Instagram carousel shows Latimer getting down on one knee while Cunning broke down in tears. The couple sailed under colorful skies on their small boat, creating a cinematic moment.
The Final Proposal
The third and final proposal, which occurred on Jan. 5, included a surprise element that perfectly referenced their first date. The beachside proposal featured fireworks and a special callback to their initial meeting.
“I said yes to a nap, yes to this dress, and yes when they told me to push a button, not knowing it would light up the sky, framing you on one knee with a single flosser in a ring box,” Cunning shared.
The flosser reference connected back to their first date when they wished they had one after their meal. This thoughtful detail showed how Latimer remembered and incorporated meaningful moments from their relationship.
Looking Forward
Cunning’s Instagram caption concluded with heartfelt words about their future together. They acknowledged that both being Scorpios makes it “hard to relinquish control,” but found that their relationship made it “easy to keep saying yes.”
“These pictures are proof of the fact that I have truly never felt this way before, but I know that it’s good,” Cunning wrote. “And I am ready to have the time of my life for the rest of my life with you.”
The couple’s three-proposal journey represents a modern take on engagement, showing that relationships can follow their own timeline and traditions. Their story, as reported by Sophia A. Reynolds for News Of Losangeles, demonstrates how couples can create personalized milestones that reflect their unique bond.
Latimer currently stars in Fire Country, while Cunning has built a career with roles in popular streaming series. Their engagement announcement has garnered attention for both its romantic elements and its unconventional approach to the traditional proposal narrative.
