Why it matters: Fans get closure on Tommy’s Chicago reign while a door opens for another spinoff.

The saga of Tommy Egan reached a pivotal close on Jan. 16 when Starz released the series finale of Power Book IV: Force, the spinoff tracing his attempt to rule Chicago’s drug empire.

The Final Power Play

The episode begins after Diamond’s death, a loss that deepens the rift between Jenard Sampson and Tommy. Into the fractured landscape arrives Tariq St. Patrick, last seen in Power Book II: Ghost, tipping the scales. Jenard’s crew defects to Tommy, sealing his victory as kingpin.

Yet victory brings new threats. Vic Flynn, long in hiding, resurfaces upon hearing of Diamond’s demise. He allies with Jenard, and the pair swear to destroy Tommy while the victor weighs a move east.

“It’s bittersweet,” Joseph Sikora, 49, told News Of Los Angeles. “I wish there was a fourth season, because I feel like we really got our footing with season 3.”

Surprise Cameo Sets Stage

Tariq’s return, more than a year after his own finale, electrifies viewers. Sikora predicts fans will be “super excited” to see Michael Rainey Jr. back on screen.

“Michael’s a wonderful actor,” Sikora said. “He’s really taking control of the Tariq character and has added this gravitas to the next chapter of him.”

The closing scene implies Tommy will relocate to New York and partner with Tariq, echoing the family-dynamic chemistry that anchored the original Power.

Is Another Spinoff Coming?

While no follow-up series is confirmed, Sikora keeps hope alive. “As long as Gary Lennon is writing Tommy, I’d love to keep playing him,” he insisted, referencing the franchise’s show-runner.

He envisions a show built around the duo: “Whether it’s filmed or not, I think that it’s the next chapter.”

Ghost Question Lingers

The actor admits he toyed with a wild alternative for the mysterious phone call that lures Tommy east.

“My only other thing was, ‘Hey, is there any way that Ghost is still alive?'” Sikora said. “We didn’t see a funeral, really, and we didn’t see the body.”

He concedes Tariq was the logical choice: “The combination of Tariq and Tommy – it was the right call to make.”

Tommy’s Past Gets New Life

Even if Force is finished, Sikora’s original character will resurface in Power: Origins, the prequel green-lit in March 2024 that explores Tommy and Ghost’s formative years.

Charlie Mann will play young Tommy opposite Spence Moore II as young Ghost. Sikora jokes, “I’m glad they cast somebody better looking than me.”

Production updates from directing-producer Pete Chapman keep him optimistic. “It sounds really exciting. I can’t wait to see the show,” he said.
