U.S. Marshals captured a wanted man described as a fugitive after discovering him hiding under a child’s bed inside a Spokane home last week.

The arrest of Keantray Davon Bryant-Muellner took place on Friday, Jan. 16, when members of the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force converged on a residence linked to him near the 3000 block of South Regal Street, according to an agency press release.

The Takedown

Task-force officers announced themselves multiple times before forcing entry through a glass sliding door. Two adults who were inside the home walked out and were later determined to be uninvolved in the case.

A search of the house led officers to a child’s bedroom, where they found Bryant-Muellner attempting to conceal himself beneath the bed. He complied with commands to exit and surrendered without resistance.

Once he was in custody, specialists from the Washington State Department of Corrections’ Community Response Unit conducted a probation search of the property. They seized:

  • One handgun
  • Multiple high-capacity magazines

Investigators have not confirmed whether the firearm belonged to Bryant-Muellner.

Probation Violation

Bryant-Muellner had been serving a graduated re-entry probation sentence tied to an April 2024 arrest. Court records outlined in the release show he was previously charged with:

  • First-degree unlawful possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Fourth-degree assault
  • Escape from community custody under the Washington State Department of Corrections

The outstanding warrant was issued after authorities determined he had violated conditions of his supervised release.

Agency Response

United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Washington Craig Thayer praised the cooperative effort among agencies, noting that the arrest involved personnel from:

  • U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation
  • Spokane Police Department
  • Washington State Department of Corrections

“Last night’s arrest reflects the strength of our partnerships and the teamwork among local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies,” Thayer said.

He added that gun violence continues to plague Spokane, emphasizing that “every violent offender arrested and every firearm taken off the street makes our communities safer.”
