The 2026 Golden Globes ended with host Nikki Glaser honoring late actor-director Rob Reiner through wardrobe and a final line that doubled as tribute and punchline.

Glaser took the Beverly Hilton stage Jan. 11 wearing a black baseball cap reading “Spinal Tap,” the mockumentary that marked Reiner’s feature directing debut in 1984. The subtle nod arrived one month after Reiner and wife Michele Singer Reiner were killed in a stabbing at their Los Angeles residence.
“That’s our show. This one went to 11,” Glaser told the crowd, borrowing the film’s famous volume gag. “Thank you guys for an amazing night and I hope we found the line between clever and stupid. A good Chalamet to you all! Good night.”
Balancing Respect and Roast
The comedian told “CBS Mornings” earlier this month that her second Globes hosting turn required a careful split.
“I am a huge fan of these people,” she said. “It’s easy for me to take down the newer batch of actresses and actors who are younger than me. It’s like, ‘OK, I can make fun of you. I’m like a veteran.’ But when it’s people that I grew up admiring, it’s a different approach this year.”
Glaser added she aimed to be “very delicate about making jokes that aren’t going to ruin anyone’s night.”
“But you also want to give the people at home something to laugh at, and you want to poke fun at the people that they’re dying for you to make fun of,” she said. “People at home want you to make fun of the A-listers.”
