Katie Bates has shared that she and husband Travis Clark have lost a pregnancy.

In an Instagram video posted Saturday, Jan. 16, the Bringing Up Bates star, 25, began with clips of her holding a positive pregnancy test, hand over her mouth in shock. She then filmed herself buying a onesie and arranging it on a bed beside a teddy bear and balloons to surprise Travis, 24.

The tone shifted halfway through. Katie appeared in a hospital bed, tears streaming down her face.

“I just lost my baby,” she sobbed as someone held her hand.

A voice-over played:

  • “I think I will ask God why for the rest of my life. And never will I come to understand it. Even if God himself came in front of me and told me the reason, I don’t think I will accept it.”
  • “Some loves are too hard to bear and with great love comes great pain. And with great loss comes the greatest pain of all. If love could’ve saved you, you would’ve lived forever.”
