A Florida man is charged with murder after police say he walked into his ex-girlfriend’s office suite and opened fire at close range, killing her and injuring a coworker who witnessed the assault.
Keith Roberts Jr., 29, is accused of fatally shooting Myshaela Burnham, also 29, inside a medical and office complex on Thursday afternoon, the Bradenton Police Department said. He also faces an attempted-murder count for wounding a second employee who was sitting at an adjoining desk.
The Shooting

The incident unfolded at 12:48 p.m. in the 5200 block of 4th Avenue Circle East. Roberts entered through an unlocked door, police said, and “went directly to the desk where the victim was … knowing that’s where her desk was.”
Bradenton Police Chief Jason Cramer told WFLA that Roberts fired “at point-blank range,” striking Burnham and, because of proximity, the coworker beside her.
Multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle fleeing the scene. Investigators quickly identified the car and determined it was heading toward the DeSoto Bridge.
Swift Capture
Officers located and stopped Roberts in Palmetto within 25 minutes of the initial emergency calls, according to the department’s release.
Roberts agreed to speak with detectives from the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit and was arrested shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday.
Charges and Custody
Roberts is charged with:
- First-degree murder with a firearm
- Attempted first-degree murder with a firearm
He is being held at the Manatee County Jail without bond, jail records show. The investigation remains active.
