Mexico has chosen the historic heart of Los Angeles to host its official fan festival for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, transforming LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes into a five-week cultural playground steps from Union Station.
Downtown Venue Becomes Mexico’s Home Base
Casa México Los Angeles 2026 will occupy the downtown cultural center from June 11 through July 19, 2026, offering free admission to all programming. The site, nestled in the El Pueblo neighborhood, will function as the Mexican government’s hospitality headquarters while the world’s biggest soccer tournament plays out across the United States.
Carlos González Gutiérrez, Consul General of Mexico in Los Angeles, framed the takeover as a bridge between nations.
“We are honored to showcase Mexico’s cultural richness, creativity, and hospitality at the heart of Los Angeles,” he said. “Casa México Los Angeles will be a home for everyone, a space to celebrate our shared history, strengthen our friendship, and highlight the contributions of Mexicans and Mexican Americans to this great city.”
Match Nights Anchor the Lineup
The festival’s marquee events will be live viewing parties for every Mexico national team fixture:
- June 11, 2026 – Mexico vs. South Africa
- June 18, 2026 – Mexico vs. South Korea
- June 24, 2026 – Mexico vs. TBD opponent
Organizers anticipate crowds exceeding 20,000 over the full run. Additional screenings will spotlight teams from across Latin America, ensuring nightly energy even when Mexico is off the pitch.
Beyond Soccer: Music, Food, and Family Fun
Between matches, the plaza will morph into a cultural carnival. Salsa nights, film screenings, and a community festival are already locked in, with more events to be revealed on the LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes website and social channels.
Leticia Rhi Buckley, CEO of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, said the timing aligns with the community’s need for unity.
“We are thrilled to welcome Casa México Los Angeles 2026 to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes at a moment when our community needs spaces of joy, belonging, and cultural pride more than ever,” she stated. “Soccer is a universal language that brings people together across borders and generations, and this partnership reflects that spirit.”
Telemundo 52 Powers Coverage
Telemundo 52 / KVEA has signed on as the official media partner, promising exclusive Spanish-language coverage and on-site activations. The network holds the exclusive U.S. Spanish-language rights to the entire FIFA World Cup 26™ tournament.
Todd Mohktari, President and General Manager of Telemundo 52 and NBC4, emphasized local pride in the collaboration.
“As Los Angeles welcomes the world for this historic tournament, Casa México Los Angeles 2026 will serve as a vibrant cultural showcase and destination for fans to come together,” he said. “Telemundo 52 is proud to support this important initiative and to bring Angelenos and visitors closer to the excitement of the FIFA World Cup.”
A Cultural Moment Three Decades in the Making
The 2026 World Cup marks the first time the tournament returns to U.S. soil in 30 years. An expanded format and joint hosting duties across the United States, Mexico, and Canada give the event unprecedented scale, and organizers are pitching Casa México as a must-see stop on the global fan circuit.
Designed for all ages, the site will feature family-friendly zones, accessible pathways, and security protocols to ensure a welcoming environment. The central downtown location places it within walking distance of Metro lines, ride-share hubs, and tourist corridors.
