MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI Plus: Intel’s New Thin-and-Light Laptop Gets Gaming Performance

At a Glance

  • $1,300 price for a 14-inch OLED laptop with Intel’s newest processor.
  • 25+ hours of all-day battery life in a streaming test.
  • Integrated Arc B390 GPU delivers playable frame rates in AAA titles.
  • Why it matters: It shows Intel’s Panther Lake can bring gaming to thin-and-light laptops without sacrificing battery life.

The MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI Plus is MSI’s first laptop powered by Intel’s new Core Ultra X7 358H processor. It blends a slim 14-inch OLED display, 32GB of fast DDR5 memory, and a powerful Arc B390 GPU into a 3-pound two-in-one that can play modern games at playable frame rates while running for over a day on a single charge.

Design and Build

MSI has given its Prestige line a fresh look. The new model features a new MSI logo on the lid, gently rounded corners, and a thin aluminum chassis that feels rigid and premium. The laptop is only half an inch thick and weighs 3 pounds. A slot on the underside stores MSI’s Nano Pen, which is useful for quick notes but not for heavy creative work.

The 14-inch OLED panel is 1920×1200 with a 60Hz refresh rate. While the resolution is modest, the OLED delivers excellent contrast and black levels, helping to keep power consumption low. MSI did not equip the laptop with a higher-refresh panel, which would have better matched the Arc B390’s gaming output.

Audio is handled by quad speakers that provide a fuller sound than typical thin-and-light laptops. The speakers sound best when the laptop is in tent or presentation mode.

Hardware

The heart of the laptop is the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H. Built on Intel’s new 18A (2-nanometer) process, the chip has 16 cores: six performance cores, eight efficient cores, and two low-power efficient cores. The processor also hosts Intel’s new top-of-the-line Arc B390 GPU, which has 12 Xe3 graphics cores and can deliver 122 TOPS of neural processing.

Other key specs:

  • 32GB LPDDR5X-8533 memory
  • 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD
  • Two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports, HDMI 2.1, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4
  • Windows 11 Home

Performance

CPU Benchmarks

The laptop performed strongly in Geekbench 6, coming in at 16,607 for multithreaded and 2,896 for single-core. In Cinebench 2024, it scored 692 for multithreaded and 115 for single-core. These results place it behind high-end gaming laptops with dedicated GPUs but ahead of many other Intel laptops.

GPU and Gaming

The Arc B390 GPU enables the Prestige 14 Flip AI Plus to hit 60 frames per second in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p on the highest settings. It averages 64 fps in that benchmark. In Guardians of the Galaxy, it averages 53 fps at 1080p on High settings and 61 fps on Medium. In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it averages 27 fps on High but can reach 65 fps with XeSS Frame Generation on Low settings.

These figures mean the laptop can play many modern titles at playable frame rates without needing to drop quality settings dramatically.

Battery Life

In a YouTube streaming test, the Prestige 14 Flip AI Plus lasted 25 hours and 18 minutes. That performance is longer than the 22 hours and 59 minutes achieved by the M5 MacBook Pro and more than two hours longer than the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro in the same test.

Ports and Features

The laptop offers an impressive array of connectivity:

  • 2× Thunderbolt 4
  • 2× USB-A 3.2 Gen2
  • HDMI 2.1
  • Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4

Security features include a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button and an IR sensor for facial recognition on the 1080p webcam.

The keyboard has a firm, shallow-travel feel similar to the MacBook Pro, while the touchpad is roomy but has a standard mechanical click response. Some users may find the diving-board effect – firmer clicks on the top half – a bit uneven.

Verdict

MSI’s new Prestige 14 Flip AI Plus demonstrates that Intel’s Panther Lake can deliver “mobility without compromise.” With a powerful processor, an integrated GPU that can play AAA titles at playable frame rates, and an all-day battery life that rivals ARM-based laptops, the laptop stands out in the thin-and-light category.

It isn’t a true gaming laptop – it won’t match the frame rates of dedicated RTX 4050 or 5050 machines – but it offers a compelling mix of performance, versatility, and endurance in a 14-inch form factor.

For users who want a portable laptop that can handle everyday tasks, content creation, and light gaming, the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI Plus is a strong contender at its $1,300 price point.
