Bebe Rexha turned to social media over the weekend to vent about her stalled pop trajectory, then stunned fans by floating Taylor Swift as a potential manager after announcing her departure from Warner Records.
The 36-year-old singer posted a meme that placed her inside the so-called “Khia Asylum,” internet slang for pop-star purgatory. The image showed the Grim Reaper unlocking Rexha’s door only after freeing Tinashe, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli xcx and Zara Larsson.
“Guys please help me. It’s so lonely in here,” Rexha wrote.
She doubled down with a voice memo titled “Khia asylum day 3051,” acting as if she were literally locked inside the facility.
“I heard Sabrina got out. Zara, Charli, they left. They never looked back. And my fat ass, flop ass is still in here,” Rexha said in the clip, joking that her daily punishment includes running on a treadmill in high heels.
Fan Suggests Swift as Manager
As followers weighed in, one proposed a bold fix: ask Swift to take the reins. Rexha fired back in under ten words.
“That’s actually genius,” she typed.
The exchange lit up timelines, partly because the two artists have history. In a 2019 News Of Losangeles interview, Rexha recalled meeting Swift at the MTV VMAs that same year.
“It was really nice. I was listening to her, but I was a little in shock. I was like, ‘Holy f—.’ Taylor Swift was telling me that I’m awesome,” Rexha said then. “I’d had a couple of drinks, and I was nodding and she was talking to me, but I was like, ‘Thank you.’ But I know that we had a nice moment. She’s cool.”
Independence After Warner Exit
Rexha slipped another major update into the thread: she is no longer signed to Warner Records. The split leaves her promoting new music without major-label machinery.

Her most recent album, Bebe, arrived in 2023. This year she released “Light That Leads Me,” a drum-and-bass team-up with Netsky.

Past Praise for Swift
Even before the latest posts, Rexha had publicly admired the February 2025 superstar. Their 2019 VMAs chat left Rexha gushing that Swift seemed “real, in person.”
Whether that admiration translates into a business partnership is unknown, but Rexha’s willingness to entertain the notion publicly signals her openness to unconventional career moves.
For now, Rexha continues to release music on her own terms while watching former asylum-mates climb charts and sell out tours.
